Description
A kyusu-style teapot for one or two people, from the LEAVES TO TEA range. The kyusu is the everyday Japanese teapot: a low, wide body that lets leaves open fully, with a handle set for pouring in a single controlled movement.
The strainer
A stainless steel strainer is fitted, and it is fine enough to hold back the small broken leaves in sencha and gyokuro that slip straight through a coarse basket. It lifts out to clean.
Why the shape matters
Tea leaves need room. A tall narrow pot packs them together and you get a thin, uneven brew no matter how long you leave it. The wide body here lets the leaves circulate, which is most of the difference between a good cup and a disappointing one.
