Description
A plywood place mat, 360 by 280 mm. Solid rather than woven or fabric, so it wipes clean and does not fray, absorb or need washing.
The lifted edge
The edges stand very slightly proud of the table. It sounds like a detail and it is the reason the mat is pleasant to use: you can get a fingertip under it to lift it, instead of scratching at a flat sheet stuck to the table by a drop of spilled water.
Finish and use
Natural wood grain in three finishes — birch, teak and a blackened willow. The shape is plain enough to sit under anything from porcelain to the enamelled FORIS range without competing with it. Wipe with a damp cloth; do not soak or put it in a dishwasher.
