Description
Chopsticks at 235 mm, the standard adult length. Carved individually rather than turned, and finished with beeswax over repeated polishing, which leaves a matte surface that feels like wood instead of like lacquer.
The octagonal section
Eight flats along the shaft, rounding towards the tip. The flats stop them rolling off the edge of a bowl and give a definite grip; the rounded tip means nothing catches on the lip. They are thick enough to feel substantial without being clumsy, and the tips are fine enough to pick up something small without stabbing it.
Natural wood
Colour and grain differ from pair to pair — that is the material, not a fault. The top of each stick carries a small cut detail. Wash by hand and dry them; a dishwasher will strip the wax finish and raise the grain.
